Today it has been officially confirmed that rumours WRC 2010 will be iOpener enabled are true, as iOpener media announce that they have signed an agreement with the FIA WRC and Black Bean Games.
Whilst it does not seem that the technology will intially offer hugely exciting gameplay experiences, it appears from the press release that the technology will be developed over time.
“This study should take us a step closer to our goal of allowing WRC fans anywhere in the world the opportunity to become part of the action,” commented Simon Long, CEO of North One Sport Ltd. “Using the internet they would be able to compete in the rally on the same stages against some of the best drivers in the world. If this test is successful then we hope in the future to crown our first virtual rally champion.”You can read the full press release here.
iOpener CEO Andy Lürling added, “Together we aim to configure North One Sport’s systems and iOpener’s patented technology to capture high accuracy live action GPS which can then be integrated into the next generation of WRC video games. These games will allow fans to drive, co-drive, manage or simply watch the WRC from the heart of the action.”
- iOpener gathers GPS and telemetry data from the car and delivers that data into the game within a delay of 3 secs, like live TVMore information on the game is available on our WRC 2010 game profile, don't forget to post your comments below and on our forums. Kalypso Media have announced that they intend to release a new F1-style management game in April called Pole Position Manager 2010.
Pole Position Manager 2010 is the sequel from Kalypso to Racing Team Manager. It allows players to take control of, or start a new Formula One team - giving you responsibility of racing, developing the car, testing, car setups, sponsorship and much more. The games does not however have an official FIA Formula One license, and so the teams and drivers will have made-up names that sound mysteriously similar to the real teams! We have added some screenshots to our Pole Position Manager 2010 game profile.
