Newbie Racer....?
Community News | By Paul on 7 May 2006 13:02
Newbie racer...? Don't know your pit stop from your pit board? Think a lollypop is something you suck?! Then check out SimHQ's funny article on being a newbie racer.
“What the heck is this?” I remember thinking at the time, “This silly sim is supposed to faithfully simulating the skills of the drivers who were the best in the world in their outrageously over-powered, difficult to control machines, and I can't complete with them after 10 whole minutes behind the wheel, or more precisely, joystick?”This article is well worth a read here. And don't forget to post any comments in our forums.
I knew that there must be something wrong with that sim. It couldn't be my lack of talent.
GT Legends Fast Lap at Monza @ SimHQ Posted
Game News | GT Legends | By Paul on 7 May 2006 12:59
SimHQ have posted another in their "fast lap" series; this time telling you how you can score a fast lap at Monza for GT Legends.
Ah, Italia! One of the most famous tracks in motorsports history, Italy's Autodromo Nazionale di Monza lies between the picturesque city of Milan to the Southwest, and the Italian Alps to the North. Monza's Grand Prix should be no stranger to most sim-racers: Many sim racers put their first tentative laps in at Monza as they learned how to drive a 1967 F1 car in Papyrus' Grand Prix Legends, or a modern FIA GT car in SimBin's GTR. And for movie buffs, Monza is home to the final, climactic scenes of the classic racing film Grand Prix, available on VHS and soon to be available on DVD (possibly in September 2006).Another great SimHQ article worth a read here.
TOCA/DTM Race Driver 3 Review @ SimHQ
Reviews/Previews | TOCA/DTM Race Driver 3 | By Paul on 7 May 2006 12:53
SimHQ have posted a review of TOCA/DTM Race Driver 3:
My impression is that it doesn't matter how many cars and races you shoehorn onto the DVD and on your harddrive when the overall driving experience is dull and unconvincing. RD3 really feels unfinished and unloved by its creators. Why else would you throw in such a lot of cars and tracks, yet totally neglect to create a somewhat realistic, or at least overall engaging racing-experience? Why else would you neglect to enhance in-car views and add pitstops? I just never feel like I'm participating in races, I'm just playing another game here. Before parting, let us just remind ourselves that whereas serious, hard-core sims don't sell that well, Codemasters have been able to sell enough copies of their racing games to actually continue producing those games, and following them up with sequels and new releases, so clearly there is a market. You can read the full review here and don't forget to view our game profile.
