Driving rFactor @ SimHQ - Part 2

SimHQ have posted the second part in their "Driving rFactor" series - this time concentrating on a lap around Essington Park.

Although Turn 1 right is depicted on the track map as a 180° right hander with constant radius, in reality the turn tightens up on the exit. You can bleed off speed by braking hard initially and then ease off the brakes as you start the turn-in (which is later than you think). The darker lines in the track are a good indication of when you should start the turn-in. Mid-turn you'll be going into 4th gear and can actually stabilize the car with a short stab at the throttle, before braking lightly as you enter the second, tighter part of the turn. Select 3rd gear to accelerate gently onto the short straight before T2L.

Above all else, TOCA 3 is the kind of racing game that just about any driving game fan could get into. Simulation enthusiasts will love the variety, the challenging higher difficulty level, and all the various tuning options that can be tweaked prior to a race. Those who just want to jump into a race and go can do just that as well, without having to worry about the sorts of minutiae that most pure sim racers tend to require before beginning. TOCA 3 is a racer with a deep, lasting impact, and regardless of what kind of gearhead you profess yourself to be, you're certain to find something to like about it.

Just a heads up to let you guys know that we have extended our coverage to now include NetKar Pro.

NetKar Pro is an independantly developed freeware game geared at both professionals and enthusiasts that aims to be one of the most realistic racing simulation games available. KPRO is aimed both to professionals in the racing business and to racing enthusiast all around the world. It aims to offer an enviroment where people can learn about racing, car handling, behaviour on a racing track, car setup and data telemetry analysis.
