Xpand Rally Xtreme Demo to be Released January

Techland have sent word that they are intending to release a singleplayer demo of Xpand Rally Xtreme in early January 2007.

Two distinct rally tracks, Malaysia and Italy, will be featured in the demo. The file will also give players the chance to try out two different vehicles, each of which can be tuned, set up and painted to suit the driver's needs. Both the Arcade and Simulation driving modes will make an appearance. Arcade mode was created with inexperienced players in mind, who like to drive fast and dangerously without worrying over the consequences. Simulation mode is best suited for demanding players, who want their driving model to be as close to reality as possible, and want to have the possibility of fine-tuning their ride.

SimHQ Feature on Grand Prix Classics 1979 Mod

Our friends over at SimHQ have taken a look at the new Grand Prix 1979 Mod mod for rFactor.

As the happy owner of Logitech's G25 (yes, Santa came by a couple of days ago), I was happy to find that the mod team has included an option to “upgrade” the cars to use the H-shift gearbox. Oh the gorgeous gurgling spluttering sounds of the engine, as I brake for a corner and shift down.

I found another upgrade option that lets me choose the car in the correct configuration for the chosen track: Go to Monaco, then select the Monaco spec. car. Go to Long Beach (US GP West) and there's a a car set up for that track.
