Live For Speed: S2 Interview at FileFront
Game News | Live for Speed S2 | By Paul on 31 March 2005 12:53
Filefront, the popular downloads site, have posted an interview with Ron Whitaker about the development of Live for Speed: S2.
Q: Just how realistic is Live For Speed S2? What concessions had to be made in order to make it more playable, if any?You can read the full interview here.
A: It is very realistic - there are so many physics elements being simulated, listing them here could fill a whole page probably. The nice thing is that for example everything is interconnected, like in real life. Take a tire - it's connected to the suspension - the suspension is connected to the chassis. When you drive over a bump, it will affect the tire, affecting the suspension, affecting the chassis movement (affecting the other suspensions -> tires again, etc). But the way the tyre behaves on its own, affects how the forces of driving over the bump travel through the suspension to the body as well. And a tire on its own has many properties, such as wear, heat, air pressure. Either way, to make a long story short - LFS tries to get to reality as close as possible.
Xpand Rally Review at SimHQ
Reviews/Previews | Xpand Rally | By Paul on 31 March 2005 12:49
SimHQ have posted a review of Xpand Rally.
A lot of creative and innovative ideas are packed in this title. It's sort of a first person shooter meets racing because a lot of elements known from fps are available in Xpand Rally. Many of the ideas are great, and Techland have done some things differently from what other developers of racing sims do — like turning the the radar-map that is usually a driving aid that can be removed into a driving aid that costs you money to upgrade. You can read the full review here.
