Alloutgames.com have posted a review of Need for Speed: Underground giving it 91%:

You need to work your way through Underground mode to unlock the various parts, modifications, and cars in the game. It also follows a loose storyline. A street racing vixen named Samantha takes your sorry ass under her wing for some reason and decides to show you the ropes of the Street Racing scene.

Something that Underground has going for it is the fact that EA has had almost a decade to improve and perfect a racing engine. So you can expect a realistic racing experience, with all the glorious physics that you come to expect in a serious racing game.
