Codemasters now have the rights to develop a series of Formula One games across multiple platforms and multiple years. "Formula One 2009 / F1 - The Game" is an un-official name for the first game in the series which will be released sometime during 2009. Following the acquisition of the Sega Racing Studio, there are now 350 people working on the Formula One project. PC owners will be happy to know that the game has officially been confirmed for the PC as well as consoles. According to Codemasters the game will be aimed at both simulation fans as well as those new to the genre and the American market.

Formula One 2009 will be the fifteenth video game in the Formula One motor racing series. The video game will be based on the motor racing series with the same name, and will be based on the upcoming 2009 Formula One season. It will be released in 2009 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows platforms. The game was confirmed by Codemasters on May 9, 2008. 350 people are reported to be working on the game, due out in 2009, with the game engine based on the Ego Engine that Codemasters used on both the Colin McRae: Dirt and Race Driver: GRID games.
