EAX & Replays

Although we have already seen this added in the immensely popular GPxPatch, GP3-2000 finally includes EAX-enabled 3D-sound. At last you can hear the other cars instead of just your own. This in itself helps to increase the feeling that you are actually there, in a F1 racing car. However, I still believe that the engine sounds too much like a washing machine and not like an 800 HP monster. Pit-crew communication has been added, but it don't think it is used enough, I do believe something better could have been made of it. Still, it's a nice feature anyway.

The new replay system also deserves a mention, as it is now possible to record and replay up to 90 minutes of action (if you have a powerful PC, that is). This is quite a nice feature if you want to replay a crash or an overtaking move earlier in the race.

"F1GPAdia"

The last new feature worth talking about is the "F1GPAdia", which is a "encyclopedia" of the 2000 Formula One season. Basically this is in an HTML (web) format, and contains sparse information on the drivers, tracks and teams of the 2000 season, and a car-setup guide which is the only thing which makes the GPAdia any good. The car-setup guide mainly consists of information in a video format presented by Mark Hemsworth, who has been race and test team co-ordinator and test team manager for the Arrows Formula One team.

Basically he gives some information about editing the car setup, and what effects this will have on the handling of the car. Although the videos are good, and the information is helpful it is difficult to put this into use as by the time you have got back into GP3-2000 you have forgotten it! Whilst I think the idea is a good one, I do think the videos and information should have been incorporated into the game rather than being a separate entity. Still, it's an added bonus.
