System Requirements

The following is a description of the minimum system requirements for Grand Prix 4. If your system does not meet or exceed these requirements, then the game will run incorrectly, or not at all.

• Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
• Pentium2 400MHz or equivalent
• 64Mb RAM
• videocard 16Mb DirectX 8.1 compatible
• soundcard DirectX 8.1 compatible
• 4X CD Rom drive
• 500 Mb Hard Drive Space
• DirectX 8.1 (supplied with the game)

Installation

This game supports the Windows AutoPlay feature. Simply insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive and wait for the installation screen to appear. Then, simply follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

If the AutoPlay program does not start automatically:

1. Double click the My Computer icon on your Windows desktop
2. Double click the game icon.
3. Click the Setup.exe icon.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

DirectX Installation

We strongly recommend you double check that your PC has the latest version of DirectX 8.1 installed

If you are running Windows 95 or 98 and do not already have DirectX version 8.1 or higher installed on your machine, or you need to re-install it for any reason, just follow these steps

1. Insert the game CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Double click on the "My Computer" icon.
3. RIGHT click on the game icon.
4. LEFT click on "Open".
5. Double click on the "resources" folder
6. Double click the Dxsetup icon.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
8. Ignore any warnings you may receive by clicking on YES.
9. Restart Windows to complete the installation.

Troubleshooting

Q: Nothing happens when I insert the game CD into my CD-ROM drive.

A: The AutoPlay feature may be turned off on your computer.

If you wish to install the game without enabling AutoPlay, you can start the setup process manually by double clicking on the "My Computer" icon on your Windows desktop, then on your CD-ROM drive icon, then on "SETUP.EXE".

If a CD-ROM icon does not appear when you open the "My Computer" icon, or if clicking on SETUP.EXE doesn't start your game either, then your CD-ROM drive may be in "MS-DOS compatibility mode". Contact your PC manufacture to obtain details on how to upgrade your PC.

Q: The Installer starts to copy files, but then just quits to the desktop.

A: Make sure that you have enough hard drive space available on your system before installing. If you don't have at least 100 Megabytes free, the game can't install.

If you have enough space, check the shiny underside of the CD for fingerprints, smudges, scratches, or anything else that may cause your drive to have trouble reading it.

If the CD looks clean and undamaged, then your CD-ROM drive may be running in "MS-DOS Compatibility Mode".

Q: I am receiving an error message stating that there is an error in one of the following files: User.exe, Explorer.exe, Kernel32.exe, or GDI.exe

A: We have found that an error in any of these files can often be resolved by upgrading your Internet Explorer program to version 5.5 or later. More information can be found at Microsoft's website. If upgrading this program does not fix the problem, proceed with other troubleshooting steps included in this document, depending on the specific problem you are experiencing.

Q: I receive an error message about a missing DDRAW.DLL, D3D.DLL, or DSOUND.DLL file.

A: This can be an indication that DirectX was not successfully installed. You should try reinstalling DirectX from the program CD (see above) You may need to upgrade your current set of video drivers. This is highly recommended. To check the details of your current display card

1. Click on your Windows START button
2. Click on the RUN button
3. Type the word DXDIAG and click OK
4. When the DirectX diagnostic tool appears click on the DISPLAY tab
5. Make a note of the card name, manufacturer, approx total memory (16MB minimum) and the driver version number.

Sometimes this happens when you don't uninstall the old video card's drivers before installing the new card. You need to uninstall the old video card properly, using the Add/Remove options in Microsoft Windows, and then install the new card and drivers. It is also a good idea to update the new card's drivers immediately, as the drivers that came with your video card may not be the latest available. If you need help with any of these functions, please contact the hardware manufacturer.

Q: I receive an error message about Lemee.TXT and the installation aborts or the installation aborts at 56% and asks for disk 2

A: You must be using a UK/US English version of Windows and the regional settings must be set to English. You may experience problems with the current version of the game if you are using a non-Latin alphabet eg Japanese, Hebrew, Greek, Indian.
